The St. John's vestry will be meeting Monday, June 1, to make plans for the reopening of St. John's. Please pray that the Lord will give us wisdom as we consider when and how to go forward with reopening our building for worship. You will notice I said "reopening our building" not "reopening our church." Our church has not been closed! The church is the community of the faithful and as such we have continued to be the church even when we cannot physically gather.

Next week you will receive a short survey designed to help the vestry and me plan for our reopening. Of course, you are also welcome to send me an email (rector@saintjohnshelena.org) or call me (501-291-6262) to let me know your thoughts about reopening. You are also welcome to contact any member of our vestry. You can find a list of their names on the last page of the bulletin attached to this email. As I've already told the vestry, we will be following the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control for the reopening of places of worship. These guidelines have been adopted by the Arkansas Department of Health and by the Diocese of Arkansas as appropriate guidance for the reopening of places of worship in our state and our diocese.

The vestry will also be discussing how we go about providing worship for those who cannot or choose not to return to physical gathering at this time. I will keep you posted about what form that will take, as well as guidance provided by Bishop Benfield.

Now that hospitals have resumed performing elective surgeries, please let me know if you are having surgery. While I probably can't yet make in-person visits at hospitals, I do want to keep you in my prayers and be available to you. I will be glad to visit you prior to your surgery at your home or even in the hospital parking lot!

Blessings,
Fr Ray+
