WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Sunday at 9:00 am continues its study of Matthew.
SUNDAY SCHOOL (for age kindergarten through the 4th grade): Sunday at 9:00 am at the First United Methodist Church continues its study on Jonathan.  
 
WORSHIP: March 8, Holy Eucharist at 10:30 am with the Rev. Jos Tharakan from All Saints Russellville as our celebrant.
 
Daylight Savings time Begins: spring forward
 
Readings Sunday, Mar 8: Exodus 20:1-17; Psalm 19; I Corinthians 1:18-25; John 2:13-22.
 
LENTEN EVENING PRAYER: All Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during Lent at 5:30 in the chapel.  This week’s worship leader is Susan Carter.
 
WEDNESDAY, March 11, we will have Holy Eucharist at 5:30 in the chapel led by Arnold Hearn followed by a light meal hosted by your Choir.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:
 
WEDNESDAY, March 11, following the 5:30 Eucharist we will have our LENTEN MEAL hosted by your Choir. 
 
PASTORAL NEWS:
 
St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the ECW have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

The Samaritan’s Purse: The Samaritan’s purse category for donation for MARCH is: Accessories for girls age 5-14 (bracelets, hair bands, hair clips, necklaces, rings and earrings). Accessories for boys age 5-1. (Sunglasses, visors, caps, hats, flip flops, boxers, & T-shirts with no logos. 
A basket for the collection of these items will be in the narthex every Sunday.
 
Angels of Grace –The items from their wish list this week are bath soap and deodorant for the women’s shelter. Their office is on 406 Pecan Street.
 
 
CHURCH OFFICE NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENS:
 
The ECW will meet at the home of Mrs. Virginia Topp on Monday, March 9th at 5:00 p.m.  Their guest speaker will be Doris Smith from Grace Food Pantry.
 
ECW: Women’s Institute applications are on the table at the back of the church.

Easter Lily forms will be in your bulletin.  The price of the lilies is $16.00.  Please make checks payable to St. John’s Altar Guild.  The last day to turn in your Easter lily donation form and have it printed in the program is Monday, March 23.
 
The women of the Helena United Methodist Church cordially invite everyone to attend “Lenten Listening” services beginning Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18th at 12:00 noon each week.  These services will continue on Wednesday through April 1st.  Bring a sandwich and they will furnish beverage and dessert.  A nursery will be provided.  This week’s speaker will be Eddie Schieffler with music by Don Eastman.
