St. John’s Episcopal Church

Masks are mandatory in church due to the case numbers in Phillip County.  If you remember we originally did not meet unless active cases were below 28. (They are above 500 right now.)  When numbers went down, we could meet with masks and not sing.  Due to the size of our church and if we continue to social distance, wear masks, take temperature, and sanitize hands we will continue to meet and sing.  We are having the church professionally sanitized each week to help also.  St. John’s doors can continue to be open for all Sunday Services with everyone participating.  Thank you all for your help in trying to prevent these numbers to continue to rise and hopefully fall quickly.  Our prayers continue to be for more people to participate in this cause so we can keep our church open.

Video will be available for those unable to attend in person.

FROM THE BISHOP:  Recently, I expected my invitation to you to attend diocesan convention on Saturday, February 19, would be an invitation to see each other in person. Given the recent rise in COVID infections, I am now inviting delegates and visitors to join diocesan convention that day online instead. We will get the technology ready so that delegates can participate and vote from their homes, and visitors can watch online.

Allison Biederman and Susan Carter will be our delegates for the online convention.

FYI: According to the Cannons of the Episcopal church, a parish's Sr. Warden is appointed by their priest. If a parish is in transition without a priest, the Diocese (Bishop) appoints the Sr. Warden, but may allow the vestry to submit from its members a candidate for Sr. Warden for the Bishop's approval. This last way was offered to our vestry and the way our Sr. Warden was appointed this year.
