St. John’s Episcopal Church - Sunday, April 19, 2020

When we entered Lent back on Ash Wednesday, February 26, we had no idea what an unusual Lent, Holy Week and Easter we were going to have!  Despite closing the church for public worship and engaging in safe practices such as social distancing, we still managed to have a wonderful Holy Week and Easter via recorded video services.  I am so very appreciative of everyone who helped make these services possible by spending multiple hours making the recordings.  Especially, I know our entire St. John’s family is grateful to Nolan Dean for sharing his filmmaking skills with our church.

Then, on top of all the Covid-19 related changes, things got even more difficult with the severe storms last Sunday night that left virtually our entire community without power.  As of today, Wednesday, the church does have power.  Marjie, Tony and I are still without power at our homes, but we are glad to be back at church.

Moving forward, video recorded Sunday services will return on Sunday, April 26.  Please continue to check in with each other, especially with those who live alone.  We have several folks who have volunteered to shop for and deliver food and other items to anyone who cannot get out.  Just call the church office at 338-8115 or my cell phone at 501-291-6262 and I will get you connected with one of our volunteers.

Finally, thank you to all who have mailed in or dropped off your financial support to the church office!  Your faithfulness is greatly appreciated.

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
  • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
  • Some recent studies have suggested that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.

Maintaining good social distance (6 feet) is very important in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Everyone please take care and follow the guidelines for this virus.  Distancing when you have to get out, wearing your mask and washing your hands.
