St. John’s Episcopal Church - Sunday, January 5, 2020

From Fr. Ray+

On this cusp of a New Year, I am thinking of a lovely hymn by John Bell, a contemporary Christian musician.  It is called Behold, I Make All Things New.  There are several versions of it on You Tube.  I particularly like the rendition by the University of Notre Dame Folk Choir.  If you have a chance, Google it.  I think you’ll be glad you did.  Based on words from Revelation 21:5, it is a lovely reminder that we move into this New Year with God’s promise of newness ringing in our hearts.  Here is an excerpt from one of the verses:

Behold, behold, I make all things new,

Beginning with you and starting today.

Behold, behold, I make all things new,

My promise is true, for I am Christ the way.

Whether we are young or old, most of us can point to a few places in our lives where newness would be welcome.   It is my prayer that our shared ministry at St. John’s in 2020 will be one in which we are open to the Spirit of Christ as he moves among us making all things new.  It is going to be a wonderful year and I look forward to sharing it with you!

Blessings, Fr. Ray+
