St. John’s Episcopal Church - Sunday, May 26, 2019
From Fr. Ray+
We are about four months away from the next pastoral visit by Bishop Larry Benfield on Sunday, September 29. During his visit Bishop Benfield will be baptizing, confirming and receiving new members into The Episcopal Church. If you, or someone in your family, would like to be baptized, confirmed or received into the church on September 29, please let me know. I will be offering a six week course (six lessons that are each one hour in length) prior to the bishop’s visit. I have not yet set the exact dates for the course, but it will likely be in August and September. If you are unsure as to whether you should be confirmed or received, the information below was provided by Bishop Benfield:
“Those who have previously made a mature public commitment in another
Church may be received by the laying on of hands by a Bishop in this Church, rather than confirmed.” (Canon I.17.1)
If you have questions or would like to discuss membership in The Episcopal Church, please get in touch with me.
Blessings, Fr. Ray +
Sympathy is extended to Tap Jennings and family at the death of Carol Jennings last week. A memorial service for Carol was held at St. John’s on Monday, May 20. May Carol, and all the faithful departed, rest in peace and rise in glory.
