St. John’s Episcopal Church             Sunday, September 27, 2015

ADULT EDUCATION: Sunday, Sept.27th at 9:00 am until 10:00 am.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Sunday, Sept.27th at 9:00 am youth choir followed by Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church.
WORSHIP: September 27th Holy Eucharist Rite II at 10:30 with the Rev. Arnold Hearn from Marianna officiating.
READINGS for Sept. 27 are: Numbers 11:4-6, 10-16, 24-29; Psalm 19:7-14; James 5:13-20; Mark 9:38-50.
Midweek Eucharist with prayers for healing and Unction on Wednesday, September 30th with Rev. Arnold Hearn officiating.
The ECW will be hosting a luncheon at 12:00 noon on Sat. Sept 26th featuring Betsy Watson, author of “A Modern Woman’s Guide to an Old Fashioned Christmas”. Tickets are $10.00.
ALTAR GUILD TEAM 1 (Susan’s team) NEWS:Polish day for team 1 will be on Saturday, Oct 3rd at 10:00 am.
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:   Mark your calendars!  Blessing of the Animals celebrating St. Francis on Sunday, October 4, at 4:00 pm in the Methodists’ garden.
Pastoral Visitor:   Melody Rogers.  This is a new ministry.  Each week the pastoral visitor or visitors will visit the members of St. John’s that are either sick or shut-in.
St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the church have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

The Samaritan’s Purse: The Samaritan’s purse category for donations in September is:
Clothes for boys: Underwear, t-shirts, socks, caps and hats.
Toys for boys ages 5-14:Games, flashlights, nerf balls, small cars & trucks & harmonicas. 
All donations must fit in a shoe box!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Angels of Grace The item from their wish list this week is toilet tissue for the women’s shelter. Please place you items in the plastic tub at the stair landing just outside the chapel coming up from the undercroft.
Anchor Mission Ministry Box: This week’s donation item is toilet tissue. They will accept donations for personal hygiene (deodorant, soap bars, tooth brush and tooth paste, wash cloths & towels, shampoo) laundry detergent, paper towels and toilet tissue.  They also need prepared casseroles that they can freeze and put in their freezer.  They feed hot meals at noon five days a week with devotional included. This mission ministers to the homeless and hungry and is located on the bypass.  Their donation box is located off the chapel in the stairwell next to the Angels of Grace box.  Monetary donations may be sent to Brenda Knapp’s CPA office located at 207 N. Sebastian, West Helena 72390.
UNITED THANK OFFERING INGATHERING will take place on October 11th & 18th.  Please remember UTO is for both men and women.
SEWING CLASS FOR SAMAITAN’S PURSE CHRISTMAS BOX PROGRAM will be held on Sunday October the 11th immediately following church at Maureen’s store, Haute pare.  The sewing project will be boys’ shorts.
